What is an Overactive Bladder?

Individuals with an Overactive Bladder complain of an increased frequency of an intense urge to void immediately. This urge occurs very frequently throughout the day. However, the quantity of urine that is produced, is often is rather low.

Particularly because there often is only a minimal quantity of urine while -in contrast - there is a very strong urge to void, this syndrome is called an "overactive" bladder syndrome.

The urge to void immediately occurs rather suddenly. Sometimes this urge is so intense that even before one has reached the bathroom, urine has been lost involuntarily. However, this is certainly not always the case.

Today, there are rather good drugs to treat overactive bladder syndrome. These drugs may diminish the complaints and may even lead to their disappearance.
